IGE is the Institute for Global Education. IGE Talks is a forum. A forum is a conversation, a back-and-forth involving at least two points of view. You are invited as we tape a live public forum every first Thursday at the IGE offices, 1118 Wealthy SE, GR, next to Wealthy Theatre. We start at 7 p.m. and try to wrap up by 8:30. Freewill offering for coffee and snacks. Programs play every Thurs. at 7 p.m. and Saturdays at 10 a.m. on Grand Rapids cable access channel 24 (www.grcmc.org).

Why a unicorn? There are some people who can live without wild things about them and the earth beneath their feet, and some who cannot. A unicorn emphasizes the gulf between reality and politics, between new-found belief in hidden agendas and the actual socialist conspiracy. (You could just ask us.) Is valuing the environment an accounting mistake? Watch and see.
If you have the power to adapt your environment, why would your genes ever have to change? Can we stop our own evolution? Perhaps this is the godlike state of perfection that religious impulses drive us toward... the end of history that Marx predicted and that capitalists deny.
Has human fashion ever driven an animal to extinction? Here's a place to start: http://www.ornithology.com/extinct.html. Plumb the swamp of ignorance (and make a buck, say the Libertarians). Is sport hunting a fashion, as in the passenger pigeon, or Dick Cheney's shotgun shenanigans inside a penned enclosure? Is blood lust contagious? Fashions are.
